What type of wood are your products made of?

Our plaques consist of an engraved portion, which is cut from a flat sheet of pure poplar, maple, or red oak, about 3/8” to 1/4” thick.  Once the engraving is complete, it’s permanently affixed to a circular stained wooden base of either Baltic Birch or cherry, depending on the size ordered.  The base is then varnished and finished by hand.

 

Our maps are engraved and cut from sheets of Baltic birch plywood, then finished and mounted in walnut wood frames. 

 

Where are your products made?

All of our products are engraved and assembled in the USA.

 

Why can’t I just select and order a map or plaque right away?

Because our products are custom-made, we don’t sell generic designs out of a catalog.  We communicate with every customer before any order is placed, in order to make sure you’re completely satisfied with the design you ordered before you pay.  You only pay once you have approved the final design.

 

How does the ordering process work?

The first thing you need to do is contact us through our website and let us know what sort of product you’re interested in having us create for you.  Just click on this link to send us your message.  We’ll contact you as soon as possible (usually within 48 hours), and begin the process of producing artwork for your approval.  Previously designed maps or logos (for example, the seal of a specific branch of the military or a map design we've previously made) are completed much quicker, since they’re already established and readily to manufacture.  Customized designs take longer, depending on how much original artwork is required.  So although there’s no set answer to how long a particular design may take until it’s ready for engraving, we work with you to get it done as quickly as possible.  

 

What forms of payment do you accept??

We accept both PayPal and the four major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover).  Just go to our Purchase page and hit the "Buy now" button at bottom.  If you don't have a PayPal account, an option is provided to pay with a debit or credit card.

How long does it take to receive my product?

Once you approve the final artwork and make your payment, the process begins.  Although the engraving itself only takes a few hours, there is a great deal of post-production work before it’s ready to ship.  The plaque is affixed to the base, which is then hand-varnished and finished over the next several days.  Maps must be stained, assembled, and then custom-framed.  The amount of time before shipping may vary depending on the amount of orders ahead of yours, but you can expect to receive your product within three to four weeks from the time your payment is made.

There are many excellent companies out there who offer a wider variety of options, both in plaques and 3-D maps.  What sets us apart is that we keep our operation deliberately small, so we can provide a more personal experience for our customers.  Unlike other companies who have little personal interaction with their customers, we pride ourselves on doing whatever it takes to make sure you’re satisfied with our product, and we will collaborate and exchange ideas and designs with you until you're completely satisfied that you have the perfect engraving.  We have no interest in mass-production.  Our goal is to create unique, one-of-a-kind keepsakes that you can’t get anywhere else.
